event_group_weebleAfter seeing too many reunion dates pass by, and the prompting of a few friends, I have begun organizing the 15 year reunion for Independence High School (San Jose) for the class of 1995. The date is tentatively set for April 03, 2009 and we’re gathering on Classmates.com. Be sure to head over there, or comment to this post, to get involved, or just let us know that you’re showing up. More information to come.

Worried at ComputerHave you ever wondered if all that spam you receive (or perhaps block/filter/etc) really works? Well a recent study performed by UC Berkeley was reported over at Young Entrepreneur discovered that the average response from spam is about one valid response for every 12.5 million e-mails sent. And while that sounds like a horrible rate of return, consider this. One of the largest hacker networks, Storm, contains a list of a million-million (1,000,000 million) e-mail addresses. On the this scale, along with the system capacity, we can see that sales can reach $7,000 per day, or $3.5 million per year. And that, my friends, is why spam continues.

Now on to the follow-on question: I wonder how many of those transactions are using legitimate credit cards?

boundlessI just learned about an amazing organization, Boundless Playgrounds. They are the first national non-profit dedicated to helping communities create extraordinary barrier-free playgrounds where children, with and without disabilities, can develop essential skills for life as they learn together through play.

You can read more about them on their website, as well as on this pdf document.
